Cooperation mechanisms

Cooperation mechanisms enable EU countries to work together to meet their 2020 renewable energy targets.

The Renewable Energy Directive establishes an overall policy for the production and promotion of energy from renewable sources in the EU. It requires the EU to fulfil at least 20% of its total energy needs with renewables by 2020 – to be achieved through the attainment of individual national targets. All EU countries must also ensure that at least 10% of their transport fuels come from renewable sources by 2020.


As a Member State of the European Union (EU), the adopted common legislation and long-term strategic objectives set out several tasks for Hungary in this field. The EU’s Renewable Energy Roadmap adopted on the basis of the EU energy and climate package specified a 20 percent share of renewable energy sources, including a 10 percent share in the case of transportation, as well as a 20 percent increase in energy efficiency and a reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to 20 percent (of the 1990 level) as targets to be reached until 2020.

Desription of the Project   

Europe is using of renewable energy and by observing methods of energy production implemented in every partner country, to know what possibilities make our life better and helthy by using different energies we have (solar, water, wind, geothermal).

Some partners involved in current project implemented Comenius Partnerships in previous years. With experience in this matter, living in a time when the ability to open up the school to the world is important, we would like to persuade young people – students to participate in the project which is an international partnership with mutual activities. Nowadays, young people who are the beneficiaries of the project are prospective parents, citizens and employees. We intend to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills and develop in them the belief of extraordinary importance of caring for personal sustainability and the environment we live in. They should know the obvious benefits to humans resulting from living in harmony with nature and strive for such technology development, improvement of the quality of life that will have a positive impact on the environment and  will not  harm it in any way. Great need of humanity for energy poses a threat to the natural environment, therefore we need to raise the generation that would favor the use of friendly renewable energy sources and will be able to share their experiences and best practices at the international level. For this purpose, we wish to carry out a series of structured, deeply thought-out actions aimed to familiarize with the methods of use of renewable energy sources in the partner countries. Students- beneficiaries of the project will be introduced to the ecological vigilance, careful observation, critical approach and the ability to assess objectively the current state of affairs. The attitude of pupils should be characterized by readiness for positive change by sharing their experiences and achievements and learning from their partners’ successes. To achieve the goal, our work must be structured, multidimensional and interdisciplinary. Among the group of teachers willing to work we will appoint people responsible for supervising the work and the different types of activities:

–  the substantive part of the project – developing lesson plans that will be carried out as a series of educational activities that enrich the curriculum in the field of environmental and natural sciences in the partner countries

– the language part of the project – assisting students in translation, improving language communication, foreign language assistantship of the meetings

– modern information technology used in the project – supervision of proper communication with the use of modern information technology, video conferencing and online sessions , development and administration of the project website and theme profiles on social networking sites (facebook, youtube)

– artistic and technical part of the project – organizing experiences, meetings, shows and exhibitions, recording movies, documenting the activities of the project , photography

That is what we would like to teach our students  who  will work towards an effective cooperation, peace and well-being and will share their knowledge and experience with future generations.

International teamwork is needed to comprehend how important for the whole of Europe is using of renewable energy and by observing methods of energy production implemented in every partner country, to know what possibilities of make our life better and helaty we have by using different energies (solar, water, wind, geothermal).

As all partners are educational institutes we intend to include and benefit three major target groups.

The first group that may benefit from the international cooperation is the teaching staff of each project participant. Their professional skills are likely to improve, their vision may broaden by seeing others’ good practice. The experiences gained at the meetings may be taken home by the teachers, the results are expected to be shared and applied in the everyday teaching practice even after the project period. A holistic approach may be more applicable in the 21st century classroom, as students are bombarded with all sorts of impulses in today’s society.

Students also gain extensively from the cooperation. They take part of activities that provide them hands on experience, they are to learn about the many faces of renewable energy. Inevitably, parents and families are also natural partners in the project. They will also learn from the findings, we also plan to invite families using at homes renewable enery.
